Seating: The Forgotten Accent

While designing a room for a home, most tend to look at accent pieces as things that are insignificant. But decorative accent pieces do not need to be strictly area rugs, pillows or picture frames. Accent items can also be larger items such as seating options.

Think about it, when you see a fun patterned chair (such as the one photographed) you think of it as a complementary piece to the overall space; something that harmonizes the style of the room. Chairs, love seats and couches can easily set a space apart and bring a style together. They are that influential.

When designing your home, think outside the box for traditional accent pieces to bring a style to life. Think of a seating option that will signify the atmosphere you are trying to convey. Do you want your area to be comfortable and casual? If so, maybe a recliner in a corduroy fabric would suit. Do you want your area to be modern and sophisticated? If so, maybe lounge chairs in retro shades and sleek lines would do the trick!

You can most certainly adjourn these complementary pieces with accent pieces like area rugs, pillow and picture frames but don’t feel limited to just that for decorating your home!
