Entertaining this Super Bowl?

The Green Bay Packers play the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday for Super Bowl XLV and it’s sure to be an exciting game! I’m looking forward to getting together with friends, eating and having a great time.

If you’re planning on hosting a Super Bowl party this year, here are a few tips to ensure everyone has a great time, regardless of which team wins.

First, choose your guest list wisely! This may seem like a strange statement, but having two conflicting groups of people rooting for opposing teams could result in chaos.  Not saying you shouldn’t invite those supporting the opposing team, just know that it will make for interesting trash talking and/or throwing!

Second, don’t be afraid to ask for help! Even though you’re hosting the party, it doesn’t mean you can’t ask your guests to contribute food and drink items. We will be going over a friend of mine’s condo and she stated that we’re welcome to bring anything we want. (Actually, my invitation came with the demand of two batches of a certain buffalo chicken dip- one for guests and one for the hostess!) Honestly, most guests appreciate the opportunity to bring over anything to help. So as the host/hostess, don’t be afraid to take them up on it!

Third, don’t feel pressured to entertain your guests. It’s the Super Bowl; the television is the main source of entertainment. Have that set up and the party is a victory (even if your team isn’t the victor). To help get the home in the spirit of the day, have a few decorations dedicated to supporting each side.

Finally, make clean up a game for your guests. How do you do that? Encourage people to pick up their own plates and cups by having a basket for them to shoot it in. Hang a basketball hoop above the trashcan and post a score board with each person’s name. The winner will receive a gift. Obviously, most people will do this on their own, but making it a game is all the more fun!
