Painting Party Prep

Even before your offer is accepted on a house you begin planning how your furniture will be arranged and what type of décor you’ll go with.  Included in that is painting. Take it from a pro, having a painting party is the best route to go! Before you move in, dedicate some time to painting the walls. This will be a lot easier to do if there is no furniture in the home.

A painting party is where you’ll ask little helpers to come over and paint your place. Having a group of people will make the entire painting process go by a lot smoother! So here are a few tips to making your painting party a success for both you and your troops.

Attire.

Painting is a messy business. No matter how hard you try, you will get paint on you. So make sure you come dressed prepared to have your clothes speckled with color.Attire.

Supplies.

Have enough painting and clean-up supplies for all your helpers. There is nothing worse than trying to paint a wall with only a paint edger. Makes the wall look streaky and takes a very long time! For each person volunteering, have a task they’ll be responsible for; prep-work such as removing light plates and taping the edges,  rollers and small brushes for the walls and of course, clean-up!

Nourishment.

Painting is hard and physically draining. If you don’t want a cranky crew, you’ll need to keep them replenished with food and beverages.

These tips may seem like common sense, but you’d be amazed at how many painting parties I’ve attended where the preoccupied host didn’t take one of these suggestions into consideration. If you do a little painting party prep ahead of time, you and your painting team will be happy campers!
