Upgrade Your Home’s Exterior

They say that you never get a second chance to make a first impression. While I definitely believe that to be true for me and the people I meet, I don’t believe it has to be true for your home. You can always update and spruce up the exterior of your home to facilitate a new first impression to even your most frequent visitors. And, you might even boost your home’s value in the process.

Here are some fun ways to update the exterior of your home:

Make a Big Entrance.

One easy way you can jazz up the exterior of your house is by making your entry way as exaggerated and eye-popping as possible. Adding an oversized fixture over your porch light or displaying your house number in big, bold digits on your door can really make a statement. Also, painting your door a bright, brave color really makes your entrance stand out.

Get Back to Nature.

If you live in an extremely urban area and are surrounded by the loud noises of city life, have no fear. You can use water fountains and bubblers in your front yard to drown out city living and bring you back to quiet, country life.

Scrub Down Your Siding.

If you have a house with vinyl siding, make sure to rinse it regularly with a garden hose. If you haven’t done this in a while, scrub down your siding with a mixture of three parts water, one part bleach. (Make sure to protect your plants!) Also, stick with the garden hose. A power washer can be tempting, but the vinyl is malleable and could become warped under the pressure and allow water into your home.

Pop Your Color.

Paint or trim your window shutters with bright colors. This serves two purposes: one, it makes your house look really sharp. Two, it provides an extra layer of protection for your shutters.

If any of these ideas sound appealing to you, summer is the perfect time to get out there and make some changes! All of these quick and easy additions and upgrades not only make your home look better, but they can also add value to your home! Want to get an estimate of your home’s value right now?
