We had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people on our Twitter chat with Pizzazzerie when we discussed backyard barbecue ideas. Everyone was excited about the topic and shared some fabulous tips for bringing in Red, White & BBQ in style. One woman in particular, Danica from ChicRunner.com, shared her picnic inspired wedding that screams all American. She’s graciously allowed us to share some images which we think will help you plan for your next outdoor party.
With a backyard barbecue, or even a picnic inspired wedding, the centerpiece can be a collection of items and should really encompass a rustic feel. Take a look at Danica’s setting; there is a combination of apples and flowers in addition to big and small holders. The mixture of the textures and colors make it warm and cozy while still being beautiful and elegant. Use this at your outdoor gathering by finding things around the home like small mason jars or a wicker basket.
Display the Cuisine:
One of the biggest things we learned on the Twitter chat is that hostesses want to be able to enjoy the party they are throwing, instead of just playing waitress. So what are some tips to help you do that? Prepare the food early and display the meal so guests can feed themselves. Prepare some delicious treats, like these healthy hors d’oeuvres, and put them on display in a bar style like the hot dog grilling bar. It’ll ensure that you get to enjoy the party you’ve worked so hard to throw while also letting guests help themselves to the food. You can display your meal in fun ways, such as platters and buckets like those pictured, or cone holders for chips and popcorn or small containers (like mason jars or mini pie pans) for mini desserts which are adorable to look at and help with portion control.
Let the PAR-TEE Begin:
Any gathering should have some entertainment for the guests, and hostess, to enjoy. Don’t forget to include games, like neck tie limbo shown below, or plenty of music for dancing. Other big barbecue activities are cornhole, scavenger hunt, water balloon toss, capture the flag, volleyball or horseshoes. The options are endless and so is the fun when you incorporate leisure games into the mix.
Here are additional photos of Danica’s big day. It was truly an amazing celebration and we are thankful she allowed us to share with our readers; and a huge thank you to her photographer Jonathan Moore for capturing such an important day.
