Pairing Summer Wines with Your Best Barbecue Taste Treats

Summer is also known as what else? The barbecue season! It’s time to get those grills nice and hot for some awesome barbecue treats. One of the best things about summer barbecues apart from the very cooperative weather is the fact that you can do this with practically everyone. So gather up your family and friends, acquaintances old and new and kick the summer off with some of the yummiest things you can chow down right off the grill. Even better, try pairing your favorite grills with a few of these summer wines we’ve handpicked for you. They’re sure to tickle your taste buds and have you coming back for more!

Zinfandel and Cabernet

Well, when we’re talking about a barbecue, who can leave out the burgers and steaks? Juicy, medium-rare, and straight off the grill is perhaps one of the best ways to have them. Of course, others might want their burgers to be tad browner on the inside or their steaks well-done. But whatever way you choose to cook them, you can’t go wrong with some luscious zinfandel rose or cabernet. If you’re not a big fan of slathering your meat with grandpa’s special barbecue sauce, then a delicious glass of cabernet to wash it down is in order. But if meat is not exactly the star of your plate (like loading up on those onion rings, corn, and potatoes), then zinfandel rose is your best match!

Pinot Gris and Riesling

For seafood lovers out there, some mouth-watering seafood kebab will certainly kick off your barbecue season to a great start. Fish, shrimp, squid, those succulent oysters, and some amazing crab will definitely get those grills burning hotter and tastier than ever! For something so flavorful, you will need wine choices to complement the same and not drown out the unique bevy of tastes. A well-aged bottle of pinot gris or riesling will do the job nicely or if you’re serving salmon as part of the menu, then throw in some pinot noir for an added taste edge. You can also do the same with some tasty grilled chicken!

Malbec and Sangiovese

Whether you’re kid or an adult, sausages and brats are sure to be on the grill menu! There are so many different brands and varieties to play around with, depending on what your taste buds dictate. Basically, most reds can go really well with juicy grilled sausages and brats. However, if you want this summer’s barbecue blowout to be a little different, try pairing them with some malbec or sangiovese. If you’re planning on heaping those super rich and spicy barbecue sauces, then these wines can definitely balance out those flavors.

And of course, there are infinite other possibilities you can try out! The sky’s the limit when it comes to pairing good food with the best wines and all it takes is a bit of imagination and daring your taste buds to take on the challenge. So let the barbecue season loose in a fun mix of summer wines and delicious treats hot off the grill. Cheers!
