Deneen’s Home is a Place to Create

In support of the Inspiring Home Moments campaign Homes.com reached out to bloggers and asked them to share their home moments. These are Deneen’s home moments from Dreamingincolor.

It takes a lot of growing and changing to create moments and memories in a home. With every change of growth there is a new chapter in your life.

I have always been a creative person. As I grew older and my family grew so did my creativity. Let’s face it, sometimes you have to be real creative to be able to afford to decorate your home . So I learned fast and applied it all to the rooms that would build our memories. Home became a place that represented me. I taught my children to do the same and they created their spaces to exemplify who they are.

I am an artist. So “create” best tells my story. I love design, painting furniture and making something out of nothing. This became a key thing in my home and in my work.

When we purchased our first home, I started creating inexpensive accessories and decor to design my space. Every room had something re-purposed, reused and redone!

Not much has changed! We purchased our new home a few years ago. We just grew out of the other one.

Creativity became my business. Then I started a blog Dreamingincolor. This fueled my desire to create even more. My family became more involved in the creative process with me. I started painting more furniture to add to my space and store Making things that had a unique feel that is all my own. The character that makes us, us!

Family is still the heart in the home. We gather in these rooms and create memories. We all help with redos and I get all the wise cracks of what they like and don’t like.

The above picture shows some projects that were created. Some thrift store finds redone and brought to life like a dresser turned buffet. Even a knock off birdcage chandelier where I saved over $2000! My craft room makeover is just one of the rooms to get inspired in everyday.

Our home will continue to be a work in progress. Changing things up, because when we live in a creative space we start seeing things in different ways and this helps us grow as people. I like to call it “Thinking Outside the Box.” How will you grow in your creative space?
