  1. Spray paint the wooden rod, making a nice even coat. Make sure to spray paint outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Follow directions on spray can and wear safety gear. Once you have the wooden rod spray painted, let it dry.
  2. Using a stamping press, stamp out snowflakes using the various scrapbooking papers. We used different styles to add uniqueness to each strand of snowflakes. You can also cut snowflakes out with scissors. To help the process go quicker with scissors, cut out multiple papers at once.

  3. Cut the fishing line into various lengths. We cut them 4-5 feet in length for a more dramatic effect with 3 inches extra to help tie the string onto the wooden rod.
  4. Add a metal clip to the fishing line and clamp it using pliers or scissors where you would like your Styrofoam ball to hang. This will help keep the ball in place.

  5. Sandwich the fishing line between two snowflakes of the same print with hot glue. Make sure to match up the edges. We gave about 4-6 inches of space between styrofoam balls and snowflakes on a fishing line.

  6. Repeat step 4 and 5 for each strand of “falling snowflakes.” The order of snowflakes and styrofoam balls is up to you! We did it completely random.
  7. Tie each strand of snowflakes onto the wooden rod. Snip the excess fishing line and add a small dot of hot glue to keep the strands in place.
