DIY Rustic Holiday Garland

The holiday season is the perfect time to create in your home. Bring some rustic holiday cheer into your home this season with a lovely wooden holiday garland. This simple project will dress up any room, creating a warm and homey feel. Try this DIY project and bring a little festivity into your home for holidays!

You will need the following:

• 13 pieces of thinly sliced wood
• Paint
• Roller
• Stencil
• Glue
• Glitter
• Scissors
• Twine
• Hot glue gun and glue sticks
• Power drill

Step 1 Drill holes in the top of each of your slices.
Step 2 With your roller, gently roll your paint color of choice on to the wood slices and let them dry. For this tutorial, we chose “Happy Holidays” for a longer shelf life, but your imagination is the only limitation you have when it comes to the messaging on your garland.

 

Step 3 Once your paint is dry, outline your wood slice with glue and shower it with a liberal amount of your favorite glitter.

 

Step 4 Measure and cut the twine to the length of your choosing for your garland.
Step 5 Once your glue and your glitter have dried, take a small piece of twine and tie it through the hole on your wood slice, and attach it to your long piece if twine. Add a dab of glue to both sides of the attachment piece of twine to ensure that the wood slices don’t slide around.
Step 6 For extra decoration, add bows on each slice of wood where the holes are with some hot glue.

Now hang your custom wooden garland in your home for the holidays and enjoy! This simple DIY can also be done for other occasions, and you can create different sayings suited to your needs.
