Chocolate Truffle Cakes Recipe

What you’ll need for the cakes:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (Dark chocolate fudge is Pizzazzerie’s favorite!)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

What you’ll need to for the glaze:

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1/3 cup evaporated condensed milk
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  1. Mix it. Let’s get started! First, mix together the ingredients for the truffle cakes for 2-3 minutes. The chocolate chips are optional. Fill your dome pan or cake pop pan with a scoop of batter in each hole. If you don’t have one of these pans, bake tall cupcakes and use the top “dome” part instead.
  2. Bake it. Bake the truffle cakes at 350ᵒF for 18-22 minutes. Insert a toothpick and make sure it comes out clean. Cool and gently remove from the pan.
  3. Join it. “Glue” two similar-sized cake pop halves with chocolate frosting and repeat until all pairs are “glued” together.
  4. Glaze it. Time to make the glaze! Melt the butter, evaporated milk, and sugar in a sauce pan on the stovetop. Stir constantly until a rolling boil and remove from the heat. Stir in the remaining chocolate chips and drizzle or spoon over the truffle cakes. Use a wire rack.
  5. Decorate it. Decorate these yummy treats with cocoa powder, nuts, white and pink sprinkles, or almonds – the choices are endless!
