5 Tips for Memorial Day Entertaining

Red, White & Blue

Tis the season! Kick off a summer of patriotic celebrations with red, white, and blue as your main color scheme. Not only are they bright and festive, but you can reuse these items for the 4th of July.

Hot Dog Bar

Create a DIY Hot Dog Bar! Serve up mini bowls of relish, cheese, onions, and other condiments for your guests to create their perfect hot dog. You’ll have more time to enjoy the party and your guests will enjoy their favorite flavor combos. Not a hot dog lover? Try BBQ favorites like hamburgers or try something new like tacos, grilled pizzas, etc.

Semi-Homemade Dessert

If you’re not Betty Crocker, don’t fret! You can easily jazz up store-bought desserts with a little Memorial Day fun. Pick up cupcakes or mini cheesecakes from the bakery department at your local grocery store (aim for white or red) and top with mini patriotic crafts (visit the craft store!) or fresh strawberries for an even simpler idea. Or, if you’re feeling creative, set up an ice cream bar for your summer party!

Simple Centerpiece

I used a simple white milk glass vase as a “grab and go” centerpiece. Just pop in a grouping of American flags or windmills and ta-da!

Party Activity

Now that you have your dinner table ready for partying, you might be wondering how you’re going to entertain guests and children after the meal. Grab some sparklers – they aren’t just for July 4th! Also, pull together white paper and red/blue crayons for kids to color a Memorial Day craft while adults enjoy cocktails and chatting!

I hope these tips will help you entertain in style this Memorial Day! Happy Hostessing!
