Hello Homes.com readers! My name is Dusty Rogers and I’m the blogger, mother, maker, decorator and drinker of the wine over at All Things G&D – a lifestyle blog where home décor, DIY and organization, healthy meals, kid-friendly snacks, party planning and entertaining all play happily together.
I currently live in Madison, WI with my handsome husband Greg (a.k.a. G) and our awesome daughter, Kate, and I am so excited to be the newest member of the Homes.com blogger team!
Greg and I both grew up in small towns in southern Wisconsin, and have been living in the gorgeous capital city of Madison, WI for the past 15 years. We’ve been in our current home for 8 years, and although it’s lovely, we’re ready for a change.
Let the house-hunting begin! We’re hoping our next home will be our forever home, and since we’re pretty particular about what we’d like, we’ve given ourselves a generous timetable. (I call it “patient house hunting.”) I’d like to downsize to something smaller, but with higher-end finishes, and G would like a home with some privacy, preferably a view and maybe a little land. We’d also love a 3-car garage, a ranch floor plan, huge master bathroom so G and I aren’t bumping into each other, a mudroom to act as the family’s drop zone, a home office since I work from home, lots of storage space and, of course, a gourmet kitchen.
Little things, right?
I’m convinced our perfect house doesn’t currently exist (at least not in our price range), so we’ve set our sights on finding the perfect fixer-upper! I’ve always loved the idea of finding a beautiful home with great bones on a gorgeous lot and transforming it into something new – and now that’s our plan!
We’ve been watching listings around our area for a couple of months and so far nothing has caught our eye. We have no idea if our house hunt will take us another two months or another two years, but we’re committed to finding the property that’s perfect for us no matter how long it takes!
In the meantime, I’m setting my sights on getting our current home ready for sale. There’s a lot of wear and tear that can happen to a house over 8 years – especially if 4 of them involve raising a child! We could easily list our house on the market today, but with time on our side, I want to do whatever we can to ensure our home shows well and we get a top-dollar offer.
These next several months will be filled with lots of house hunting adventures and current home refreshers and I’m so excited to be sharing it all with you on Homes.com!
