Create an Easy Summer Gallery Wall with Washi Tape

I love art and how it makes a room come together. Filling wall space can be a hard thing to do, especially when you don’t want the art to be permanently displayed, either because you live in a rental or because you may change your mind about what you want on that wall.

I have a fun idea using Washi Tape that will help you decorate a great gallery wall that can be taken down or changed easily. You can pick up Washi Tape at your local craft store or Target. It comes in many different colors and patterns, so choose styles that complement your art.

I decided that my gallery wall would be summer-inspired. I found images in magazines and thrift store books that went along with my theme. The sunglasses picture is from a J. Crew magazine and the beverages and American Summer words are from the Pottery Barn catalog. I tore them out and trimmed them to the size I wanted. On some of the prints, I used black cardstock paper for some added depth to the space.

The ‘hello, summer’ piece was printed from my computer. I typed it in a basic Word document. You can also your own words or maybe a quote from your favorite author.

The maps and lobster were all torn out of thrift store encyclopedias that were two for a dollar! Great use for old books that have no particular value to you.

After I had all of the pieces I wanted to use as art, I started adding them to the wall. No measuring at all, just taping them with the Washi tape as I went.

I love how this summer gallery wall turned out. It’s easy to install, and just as easy to remove when needed.
