The hardest thing for most people to determine is where and how to use certain colors that they love. We start having questions like this run through our mind:

  • Where can I use this color?
  • What other colors do I use with it?
  • What are my options for using it on an accessory item?

Today, I want to show you some options for using metallic. I, too, am on the metallic trend as are so many others. Although gold is my current favorite, mixing metals is popular with many interior designers and home decorators.

Here are a few tips to decorate with metallics in your space:

Mix metallic with black and white for a modern feel in your home. This lamp is a great example of that. It was a thrift store lamp that needed new life. Some gold spray paint and gift wrap gave the dated lamp that modern look.

If you prefer a more classic look to your home décor, then pair your metallic with neutral colors. Colors like gray and beige are beautiful backdrop colors with gold. The gold frame is center stage against the gray mantel.

Using metallic colors on accessories is a great way to give a room a fresh start without doing anything permanent. This table pedestal also got a coat of gold spray paint. Using it in the bathroom as an accessory gives this room some spunk.

Don’t forget about furniture pieces. They look amazing in a metallic finish.
