The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum – Alexandria, Virginia

Founded in 1792, this apothecary family-owned business ran until 1933. Now a museum, it shows off an incredible collection of herbal botanicals, medical equipment, and hand-blown glass. The museum also has a collection of journals, letters, prescription books, formula books, orders, invoices and more. So what makes it so unique? You’d be surprised by the medicine used back in the day! With items named as dragon’s breath and unicorn root, you’d think you were in a Harry Potter book.

The Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum – Gatlingburg, Tennessee

A one of a kind museum, the salt and pepper shaker museum, has over 20,000 pairs of salt and pepper shakers. The collection began 25 years ago and has been growing ever since. Not only does the museum have some of the wildest looking salt and pepper shakers, but it shows the changes in society dating back to the 1500’s. That’s right, salt and pepper shakers from the 1500’s!
