As dog owners, we all love coming home to our warm, fuzzy, and energetic pets. We all know owning a furry friend has tons of perks, but it can also have some dirty downsides. One of those drawbacks is cleaning up after our dogs. Luckily, we have some simple and easy solutions to the messy problem.

  1. Place water and food bowls on a rubberized mat or rubber mesh to keep them from sliding everywhere and making a mess!
  2. Divide that big bag of pet food that you get from the grocery store every month into smaller, closable containers to keep from accidental spillage and to keep the pests out.
  3. Purchase a bin or basket to put all of your dogs toys, bones, and other playful things in so you won’t end up slipping and falling from stepping on them.
  4. Stop going to and from the sink with your dog’s water bowl and get a self-refilling water bowl. You won’t be constantly refilling, and it keeps the water fresh.
  5. Brush your dog often and/or have them groomed to avoid loose hair on furniture and floors. You’ll be surprised how much a good brushing can cut down on hair!
  6. Keep a towel near the door to wipe wet paws after your dog has been outside.
  7. If you want to allow your dog on furniture, teach him or her to stay on a blanket or towel that can be easily laundered.
  8. Lint rollers are your friend. Keep one in several areas of the house for quick clothing and furniture clean-up.
