Delicious Ideas for Foods You Might Not Think to Grill

The weather is warmer and we all know that means it’s time to fire up the grill! Grilling steaks and burgers is pretty standard and also pretty delicious! But the truth is almost ANYTHING can be grilled! From avocado to asparagus to pineapple, nothing is off limits!

Asparagus

Asparagus is always on sale at the store during spring and summer months and it’s an incredibly versatile vegetable. To grill, simply drizzle with olive oil and toss on the grill. Close the grill cover for about 4 minutes or until the asparagus has grill marks. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon.

Avocado

Who doesn’t love an avocado? An avocado can get even more delicious when you grill it! To give the delicious avocado a smoky flavor, simply cut the avocado in half and remove the pit. Place flesh-side down on the grill grates and close the grill for 3 minutes or until the avocado has grill marks. Fill the holes where the pit was located with your favorite salsa or pico de gallo and top with sour cream. The warmth of the avocado tastes delicious against the coolness of the sour cream and salsa! Serve as a delicious meat-free meal or side dish.

Don’t forget about dessert! Pineapple rings taste amazing after being on the grill! Simply take pineapple rings and place them directly on the grill grates until they get charred grill marks, about 3-4 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream drizzled with honey and topped with chopped nuts. Serve immediately as the grilled pineapple will melt the ice cream quickly! This sweet and smoky dessert is the perfect ending to a beautiful dinner al fresco.
