Homes.com aspires to be your partner in achieving the American dream of owning your own home and we inspire you to dream BIG when searching for that new home. As you may recall, in January we asked home buyers to tell us about their home search. We wanted to get a glimpse into the current search trends and we’re excited to present the results of this survey to you!

It appears home buyers are looking to make a decision and find the home of their dreams quickly, with thirty percent only searching for one to three months followed closely by the twenty-four point six percent who found their home in less than a month. It’s interesting to note that although home buyers made their decisions fairly quickly, they still took the time to view multiple homes with twenty-four point one percent touring more than fifteen houses. Below are the complete findings from our survey:

It’s clear to see that women are predominately the ones searching for the perfect home with eighty percent of our survey respondents being female. Are you among the twenty-eight point eight percent in the twenty-five to thirty-five age group searching for a home? Do these findings also represent you? Thank You to everyone who took the time to complete our survey and helped us compile this informative report.

  1. It would have been interesting to see the breakdown between preexisting and newly built homes here. I’ve always wondered whether consumers actually do a lot of online research when they decide they want totally new, or even want to participate in designing their homes.

  2. I agree it would be very beneficial to have the new vs. existing home numbers identified. Researching new homes and new home builders/communities online is tricky at best because these do not show up on your usual real estate listing. I’m assuming that is because they do not have an MLS number, not having been built yet, and are usually represented by the builder and not a real estate agent. Most of the major listing searches are run by realtors’ organizations or companies, so they have no motivation to show new home builder products.
