You have filed your taxes, received your refund, and are ready to tackle a DIY project that will improve the value of your home! But where do you begin? Well lucky for you, Homes.com has a Home Values channel where you as a homeowner can claim your home and get updates (increases/decreases) on your home’s value. Today I’m going to walk you through how to use the home value’s channel. Based on the value of your home, you will be able to make informed decisions on which DIY projects might help with improving home values.
How to Use the Home Value’s Channel
Step 1: Sign up for an account with Homes.com which really is as simple as using your facebook credentials or your email address.
Step 2: Click on the Home Values tab in the top menu bar. Type in the street address of the home whose value you want to lookup and then click on the Search button.
Step 3: You will see a map which shows the home values within the neighborhood you searched. Click on the zoom feature to “zoom in” closer on the neighborhood you are interested in.
Step 4: As you zoom in, you will see the estimated individual home values. It is important to note that the Homes.com Home Values are based on an estimated market value computed using a proprietary formula which is NOT an appraisal. However, you will be able to see the recently sold homes within the immediate area and how your property compares. To gather a more accurate view of your home, you can claim your property. Be sure to enter your address in the search bar, click search, and then zoom in to the property in orange. This will be your home! Click on “Claim Your Home” and enter more accurate details of your home.
Step 5: Add your home to your “Watch Home” list and receive email alerts on your home value’s increases and decreases.
