Athletic pants

Depending on her style and exercise habits you can go form fitting, slim fit or loose fit.

Fleece jacket

Great for exercising outside.

Ponytail fleece headband

Fantastic if exercising outside in the cooler weather.

Shoes

An important element to fitness success is what we put on our feet. Her style and/or exercise habits will dictate what kind of shoe she will need. Because the fit of the shoes are extremely important to ensure your aspiring athlete exercises safely and comfortably, consider getting a gift card.

Earphones

Many gyms now have televisions on some, if not all, machines for a pair of earphones allow members to watch TV while working out, which is a great way to pass the time.

Pod (or even better, Apple Nike + iPod Sports Kit)

Just really practical for runners or members of gyms without televisions on the machines.

Pedometer

Allowing her to see how many steps she takes each day will give her incentive to increase that number, which will help accomplish any fitness or health goals.

Exergaming equipment

The “hot” items this year in fitness have been the exercise-related video games. What better way to get a workout than through your game system? Programs such as Wii Fit, The Biggest Loser and EA Sports Active are all perfect gifts that will get her exercising in no time!

Personal training

I usually see specials running for personal training sessions during this time of year, so it’s easy to get a great deal on personal training lessons. This will help her target the areas she’s most concerned about while getting professional tips.

Healthy cookbooks

It’s no secret that part of a healthy lifestyle is eating right! So purchase a few ‘light’ cookbooks or get her a subscription to Cooking Light magazine. These are chock-full of delicious, healthy recipes that will complement her fitness regimen.

So there you go: 10 tips to help the special lady in your life start 2011 on the right track fitness-wise. Disclaimer: These tips are supplied to you under the guise that your lady has expressed interest in a healthy lifestyle.
