Creating a New Space for Your Hobby

We all have different interests and hobbies but the one thing we all have in common is the desire to have a place to create. Whether your talent is crafting, writing, fixing old cars, or sewing, you need a space to work.

Here are some example of spaces people have created where they can CREATE!

Gardening

Some of you lucky gardeners may have a whole shed to dedicate to your love of all things green. I know it is a goal of mine to build an outdoor building to house all my gardening supplies. And a shed like this can not only be functional but also add to the charm of your yard.

Maybe instead of a shed, you have a room off the back of your home. Add some shelves, a potting table, and lots of storage for the perfect gardening lovers’ work room!

Maybe you don’t have a shed or a whole room you can dedicate to your love of gardening. I love this idea of using a corner just inside the back door. If space is an issue, go vertical to make the best use of the space you do have.

Craft/Sewing Rooms

Not every one is blessed with the square footage to dedicate a whole room to their love of all things crafty. I love this little creative nook. If you needed more storage, you could always add more shelves and maybe even some baskets underneath.

Another genius idea for those of us without a whole room to devote to our hobbies is to convert a closet into a mini craft room! Whether you take the doors off like this darling example, or keep them on so you can hide your mess, it is a good use of space.

I love this example because all of the supplies and fabric are visible. Not only do you know where everything is with just a glance, but the fabric becomes part of the decor.

Wood Working Spaces

I love the idea of converting an unused attic space into your wood working shop. The organization this space has makes me both happy and envious. Whoever thought tools could be turned into decor?

Maybe you only have a corner of your garage to devote to your talent of wood working. I think this cart (that you can easily build yourself) is amazing! It acts as a work surface and storage and doesn’t take up a ton of space.

Do you have an old shed that you can convert into a shop? That is what this family did. You should see the before! I love the white paint job. It makes it seem bright, since there is an absence of natural light. And when you are done, close the doors and you can hide the mess of any unfinished projects.
