The Google Smart Home

Today, homebuyers are searching for homes that are up to date on the latest tech trends; homes that will enable them to be fully automated and connected to technology. Smart homes are on the rise because they allow residents to control all aspects of the home, including lighting, temperature, home entertainment systems, and security.

Google recently purchased a $3.2 billion home automation device company called Nest. Here are the components of Nest and this dream house:

Nest

With Nest, your home becomes a “virtual internet of things,” in that it is now easy to control basic appliances, from the thermostat to the door locks in your home. Nest allows homeowners to keep an eye on the climate of their home while they’re away. Nest can also communicate with smoke detectors in case one goes off. All the features of the Internet that make your life easier via your computer, tablet, smartphone, and smart TV are essentially transferred to your home structure. If you want to check on your home while you’re away, you can access all the features of your home with the app.

Chromecast

The small and simple Chromecast device allows viewers to transfer information from their computers, tablets, or smartphones directly to the screen and sound system of their television. Chromecast supports streaming content from sites such as YouTube, Huluยฎ, Netflixยฎ, and Spotifyยฎ. Plus, Chromecast is only $35 dollars!

Fiber

Currently, Fiber is available in Provo, Utah; Austin, Texas; the Kansas City Metropolitan area; and one residential community in Palo Alto, California. Fiber is 100 times faster than the basic broadband Internet we’re all used to, and it essentially gets rid of buffering, long download times, and other issues that interfere with our connected lifestyle.

Flutter

Use hand gestures with Flutter to control all of your streaming media: music, slide shows, movies, etc. You can fast forward, skip, rewind, and pause by just moving your hand. Flutter also works well with Netflix, Spotify, iTunes, and more.

BufferBox

Are you not at home when the mailman arrives? With BufferBox, you don’t need to be! Shoppers can now take advantage of a “24/7” mailbox, where you can pick up your online purchases at any time. BufferBox offers kiosk locations as local delivery points, and provides a unique “unlock” code to the buyer so he or she can go to the kiosk anytime and pick up their mail.
