Homes.com Experts: How to Create Your Own Baby Changing Station

Homes.com’s do-it-yourself experts, Jacque and Matt, show you how to transform an existing dresser into a changing station for a nursery. Whether you have a small nursery or prefer to have a dresser and changing station in one, this tutorial shows you how to add a changing pad to an existing dresser, perfect for a growing family. Once your baby has grown older, you can easily remove the pad and keep using the dresser.

Jacque and Matt spent only $5.00 on materials to create straps for the padding, which keeps the pad from moving. Flip the padding upside down, and use a plank of wood when adding the clips to the straps to prevent the clips from damaging the dresser when hammering them together.

Adding a drawer liner, as well, will ensure that the pad does not move around when the pad is being used. Drawer liners can be purchased from a home improvement store in rolls. Use the padding to measure the drawer liner. Your drawer liner should be just a tad bit smaller than the padding. Once finished, simply place the drawer liner under the padding.
