Wow Your New Neighbor with These Housewarming Gifts

Housewarming gifts are a wonderful way to welcome neighbors, friends and family members to their new home. What started out as a much-needed act of bringing firewood to new homeowners to literally help them “warm their home” has evolved into a much-appreciated and more modern tradition of sharing gifts and warm greetings to celebrate this eventful occasion. We have recently welcomed a new family to our neighborhood, and I’m so excited to surprise them with this little housewarming care package!

Using a basket to corral all your housewarming goodies is a great idea, but I love to go the re-purposing route and make my dollars stretch by covering an old shoe box in wrapping paper. It’s a fun and inexpensive way to add some color and pattern to your gift. It holds plenty of items and looks great doing it!

Our new neighbors are from out of state, so to help them get familiar with the area I created this little “Welcome to the Neighborhood!” booklet. Inside I included a list of some of our favorite neighborhood spots, some neighborhood fun facts, and our contact information.

You can keep the printable as a full sheet, fold it into thirds, or cut it into thirds and secure it in the corner with a decorative brad as pictured. I also added a little washi tape to the corners to give it some added color.
You can’t go wrong with a bottle of wine, so that was the first item to go into the housewarming gift box! I dressed it up with this simple wine bottle cover I made using the sleeve of a cable knit sweater.

Not only does this homemade fall potpourri smell incredible, it’s also an inexpensive gift, perfect for a housewarming! Be sure to include directions for stovetop simmering in the booklet you tuck into the gift.

Plants are always a popular housewarming choice, so to round out our gift I added this adorable little succulent. Lastly, I included a batch of my family’s favorite homemade muffins* and a jar of gourmet jam.

*In case of allergies, be sure to include an ingredients list if you’re gifting homemade food items. This can also be added to your welcome insert.
