Minneapolis Luxury Right on the Lake

When the news broke that Hollywood heartthrob Josh Hartnett would be selling his stately Victorian mansion at 2405 East Lake of the Isles Parkway, local fans’ hearts sank just a bit. Not to worry, though. Hartnett, who attended high school in Minneapolis, will still be maintaining a residence in the Mini Apple, just not this one. The Lucky Number Slevin star has been hard at work on the popular Showtime series “Penny Dreadful,” and has recently finished filming for “The Lovers,” a Roland Joffe film slated for release in 2015.

With such a full work schedule, Mr. Hartnett hasn’t been able to spend as much time as he would like in this lovely home, and it would be a shame if somebody wasn’t enjoying its many charms. Long story short, anyone with $2.4 million and an appreciation for fine Victorian homes can now make Hartnett’s immaculately restored former residence their own.

A Bit of Backstory on Hartnett’s Residence

Before the popular actor purchased it, the home was fully renovated and brought up to date. It was a considerable undertaking, and those with an interest in knowing just how much TLC went into making this home the grand estate it currently is can read Dreaming in the Dust, a Katherine Chrisman book inspired by the refurbishing of this very residence.

Built in 1887, this stately, 5,000 square foot home has all the whimsical allure of a Victorian mansion, but without any of the troublesome quirks that tend to accompany homes of its considerable age.

On the outside, 2405 E. Lake of the Isles is the very picture of Victorian craftsmanship. Intricate woodworking, scalloped siding, arched windows, and a second-story viewing deck all add to its graceful allure.

Inside, this home is full of period-correct details: vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, intricate hardwood floors, and handcrafted moldings and trim abound. Exquisite finishes both new and old are everywhere in this fine home, and one can tell that the restoration process was a labor of true love.

Hartnett himself saw to it himself that the kitchen was fully upgraded, with professional-grade appliances, a central range and hood, marble countertops, and custom cabinetry. The home’s central living spaces are airy and inviting, but there are plenty of little nooks all around for getting cozy.

This wonderful, 4-bedroom, 3-bath luxurious living space has everything you need to live life to the fullest. There’s a wine cellar, a gym, and an expansive yard, including one-of-a-kind views of the lake nearby. There’s lots of room to entertain your favorite people, and with the Lake of the Isles just a stone’s throw from home, you’ll be able to ice skate during the winter and canoe during the warmer months of the year.
